This year Western Australia sweltered through its hottest summer on record, causing 3 exrtreme heatwaves, countless bush fires and a 20% below average rainfall. The loss of forests and shrublands was distressing to witness. These changes to the structure and composition of our habitat will have a flow on effect for our wildlife as climate change sets a trend of more extreme waether patterns into the future.The use of Red iron oxide, burnt sienna, Alzarin crimson and black symboliz our natural environment in peril, but the tiny touches of gold leaf and copper speak of hope for the future.
the Oval shaped Birridas scattered throughout the shark bay region often inspire Janeen's West Australian Landscapes. They are landlocked salt pans formed over 10,000 years ago. After heavy rains they are teaming with brine shrimp, horseshoes crabs and invertebrae which are feasted on by wading birds that migrate to Shark bay.
